Seminar held in Meherpur with call to promote objective journalism

MEHERPUR, April 21, 2026 (BSS) - A day-long seminar and workshop on “Prevention of Media Misreporting and Presentation of Objective News” was held in Meherpur, bringing together journalists from both print and electronic media.
 
The event took place today at the Meherpur Circuit House auditorium, with the aim of enhancing professional standards and encouraging responsible journalism practices.
 
Justice AKM Abdul Hakim, Chairman of the Bangladesh Press Council, was present at the seminar as the chief guest. District Information Officer Abdullah Al Masud delivered the welcome address.
 
Additional District Magistrate Tajwar Akram Sakapi Ibne Sajjad presided over the session. Among the speakers were Superintendent of Police Ujjwal Kumar Roy and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tariqul Islam, who highlighted the importance of ethical reporting and accurate information dissemination.
 
Md. Abdus Sabur, Secretary (Deputy Secretary) of the Bangladesh Press Council, attended as the resource person and conducted key sessions during the workshop.
 
Around 40 journalists from the district participated in the seminar, engaging in discussions and practical sessions focused on minimizing misinformation and strengthening objectivity in news presentation.
