GAIBANDHA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court has seized five shallow machines used for illegal sand extraction from the Karatoa River in the Bishpukur area under Rakhalburuz Union of Gobindaganj Upazila of the district. 

According to the Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) office source, acting on information that an unscrupulous group was extracting sand from the river, the mobile court conducted a drive in the area on Wednesday afternoon.

The court was led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Tamsid Akram Khan. 

Upon sensing the presence of the court, illegal sand extractors fled the scene leaving shallow machines. The mobile court later seized five shallow machines from the spot and destroyed them.
