KUSHTIA, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed and another injured critically after being crushed under a train in Purba Majampur area in Sadar upazila here this morning.

Te deceased was identified Shaha Jamal, 59, a contractor and residents of Char Shitaijhar village in Kurigram district. He used to stay in a rented house in front of the Police Lines in Kushtia for his contracting work.

The injured was taken to Kushtia General Hospital in critical condition.

The accident took place around 9.30 am at Nasir Doctor's Lane. According to eyewitness, the two were traveling along the Saddam Bazar to Udibari route when the accident occurred at the rail crossing. As the motorcycle approached the crossing, the Madhumoti Express, train unexpectedly arrived and crushed the vehicle, causing the fatality.

Nasir Uddin, Sub-Inspector (SI) at Poradaha GRP Police Station, confirmed the accident.

"The motorbike inadvertently crossed onto the rail line, and the train arrived suddenly, resulting in the crash," he explained.
