Iftar items distributed among 500 families in Bandarban

BANDARBAN, Feb 26, 2026 (BSS) - On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, the Bangladesh Army has begun distributing iftar items among poor and underprivileged families in Bandarban district.

The initiative was undertaken by the Bandarban Army Zone. Iftar materials were distributed this morning at the District Sadar Army Zone ground, where Deputy Commander Major Nafiu Siddiqui Roman attended the programme as the chief guest.

Among others present at the event were Sadar Zone Staff Officer Major Rabiul Islam, imams of various mosques and orphanages, representatives of print and electronic media, and beneficiaries from different parts of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commander Major Nafiu Siddiqui Roman said the initiative was taken to support poor, helpless and hardworking people during the holy month of Ramadan. 

He added that alongside maintaining security in the hilly areas, the Bangladesh Army is also committed to the socio-economic development of local communities.

He further said such humanitarian and public welfare activities would continue in the future.

During the programme, essential iftar items-including rice, pulses, muri, gram, cooking oil and dates-were distributed among 500 families as well as officials of various madrasa and orphanages under the Sadar Zone.
