Removal of banners, festoons continues to enhance Rangpur city’s beauty

RANGPUR, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - The joint cleanliness drive of the district administration, Rangpur City Corporation and Rangpur Metropolitan Police continued for the second consecutive day in Rangpur city today to keep it clean and enhance beauty. 
 
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali and other officials launched the removal process of illegal banners, festoons and billboards in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Rangpur City Corporation Secretary Rakib Hasan with other officials led the drive on the first day.
 
On the first day, with the help of the police, the dividers and illegal banners, festoons and billboards on both sides of the road from the city’s Katchari Bazaar area to the check post were removed. 
 
In addition to festoons, billboards and banners in the campaign for the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election is still being seen on the main roads of the city, various types of leaflets of coaching centers and multinational companies are being displayed. 
 
This not only spoils the beauty of the city, but also increases the risk of accidents. 
 
Talking to BSS, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan said that the campaign to keep the city clean has started with the cooperation of the Rangpur Metropolitan Police and the Rangpur City Corporation authorities. 
 
He said, “We want to see Rangpur city as a clean city. Unnecessary banner festoons have completely ruined the beauty of the city. We want to restore the beauty of the city. For this, we seek the full cooperation of the city residents.”
 
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali said that banners and festoons are being removed in accordance with the law to keep the city clean. Action will be taken against those who do not follow the law and spoil the beauty of the city. 
 
On the second day of the campaign this afternoon, the joint drive continued to clear encroachments on Rangpur city roads and remove illegal banners, festoons etcetera. 
 
Led by Executive Magistrate of the district administration Kazi Md Shahan, sidewalks and roads were cleared of encroachments in the Surbhi Udyan area of the city, and banners hung on various trees and electric poles in that area were removed. 
 
Executive Magistrate Kazi Md Shahan said, “The removal of illegal structures and banner festoons on the city’s sidewalks is ongoing. We will give the city residents a beautiful, traffic-free city.
 
The district administration has announced that illegal encroachments will be removed from the roads in each area in phases to reduce traffic congestion and create a good environment for movement. 
 
Meanwhile, the city residents have appreciated the start of the campaign to remove illegal banners, festoons and billboards to keep the city clean and enhance its beauty, and many have posted on social media Facebook thanking the administration. 
 
Talking to BSS this afternoon, city residents Nurul Islam, Mostafizur Rahman, Jahangir Alam, Fazlul Haque and many others urged the concerned authorities to continue such drives in the larger public interest to keep the city clean.
