RAJSHAHI, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS)- Coordinated preparations have been undertaken
at the divisional level to celebrate the "National Voters' Day-2026"
scheduled to be observed on March 2 with due dignity and in a festive
atmosphere.
Today (Wednesday), a preparatory meeting of the Divisional Coordination
Committee was held at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner's
Office.
The meeting was organised at the initiative of the Bangladesh Election
Commission and was chaired by Divisional Commissioner and President of the
Divisional Coordination Committee for National Voters' Day observance, Dr ANM
Bazlur Rashid.
Marking the day under the theme, "Voters' Power, Democracy's Liberation", the
meeting unanimously discussed organising various programmes across the
division, including rallies, discussion meetings, decorative illumination,
public awareness campaigns, and motivational activities for new voters.
Special emphasis was placed on encouraging young people to register as voters
and ensuring the updating of voter information.
In his remarks, the Divisional Commissioner said that in a democratic system,
citizens' participation as voters forms the foundation of state governance.
National Voters' Day is not merely a formality; it is an important initiative
to raise awareness about voters' rights and responsibilities. He instructed
district and upazila administrations to implement the programmes in a
coordinated manner.
The meeting, conducted by Regional Election Officer and Member Secretary of
the Committee Anisur Rahman, was attended by Additional Divisional
Commissioner Mohammad Habibur Rahman, Additional DIG of Rajshahi Range Office
Khandakar Shamim Hossain and Deputy Commissioner Afia Akhter.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Zila Parishad Umme Fatima, Principal of
Rajshahi College Professor Ibrahim Ali, Prof of the Department of Engineering
at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) Dr. Md. Niamul
Bari and Deputy Principal Information Officer of the Regional Information
Office Md. Touhiduzzaman, among others, were present.
The meeting expressed optimism that through coordinated initiatives across
the division, National Voters' Day-2026 would be successfully observed and
democratic practices would be further strengthened.
