KHULNA, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS) - A joint mobile court of Rapid Action Battalion
(RAB) conducted drives in Khalishpur and Sonadanga Police Station areas of
Khulna city today to monitor market prices, control price hikes of essentials
and prevent consumer harassment ahead of the Holy month of Ramadan.
During the drive, the mobile court fined two business establishments Taka
30,000 for irregularities and sealed a warehouse in Boyra Bazar for illegally
stockpiling Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) products, said a RAB
press release here today.
The drive was carried out from around 1:40 pm to 5:10 pm yesterday under the
supervision of RAB-6 Special Company.
During the operation at Boyra Bazar, the team recovered a large quantity of
TCB commodities from a warehouse of "AbulKalam Store".
The seized goods included 40 kilograms of dates (four packets of 10-kg each),
200 kilograms of lentils (four sacks of 50-kg each), 100 kilograms of
chickpeas (two sacks of 50-kg each) and 108 litres of edible oil (54 bottles
of two litres each packed in six cartons).
Following the recovery, the authorities sealed the warehouse for illegal
hoarding.
Executive Magistrate Umme Salma Khanum and Assistant Commissioner (Executive
Magistrate) Priyanka Rani Kundu were present during the drive along with
other officials of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection.
KCC conducted different drives to monitor essential commodity prices at
various kitchen markets during Ramadan, the press release added.
RAB-6 officials said such drives will continue to ensure market stability and
protect consumer interests during the Ramadan.
