JHENAIDAH, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS) - A motorcyclist was killed after his motorcycle lost control and crashed into a tree in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district this evening.

The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan Azad, 20, son of Abdur Rashid of Natima Bogapara village under the upazila. 

The accident occurred around 7:00 pm on the Natima-Maheshpur road, in front of a cold storage adjacent to Hider's Garir Math, police sources said.

Local eyewitnesses said Azad was returning home from Natima Bazar when he lost control of his motorcycle near the spot and hit a tree, killing him on the spot.

Upon receiving information, members of Maheshpur Fire Service and police rushed to the scene and recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge of Maheshpur Police Station Mehedi Hasan said the body had been recovered and further legal proceedings would be completed after consultation with the deceased's family.
