GAZIPUR, Jan 11, 2026 (BSS)- Police arrested a youth along with a foreign-
made pistol from the Tongi East Thana area of Gazipur district.

The arrested was identified as Abdullah Al Mamun alias Ratan, 30, son of late 
Abed Ali of Khotamara village under Lalmonirhat Sadar upazila. He had been 
living as a tenant at Mirer Bari area in Paschimpara here.

During an operation late Saturday night, Mamun was arrested from the Purba 
Arichpur area along with a foreign-made pistol and a magazine, Mahid Uddin 
Ahmed, deputy police commissioner of the South Division of Gazipur 
Metropolitan Police confirmed today.

According to police, acting on a tip-off, a team led by Sub-Inspector (SI) 
Tuhin Mia and Assistant SI Ruhul Amin of Tongi East thana conducted the 
operation in the area and nabbed Mamun.

Later, based on his statement, the pistol was recovered from the room of 
Sujon, a tenant at the house of former councilor Shah Alam Ripon, in the 
Purba Arichpur area.

Mamun was sent to court with a case today, police added.
