DHAKA, Jan 1, 2026 (BSS) -The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested six people in connection with the murder of a youth in the Pubail area of Gazipur.

The information was disclosed in a press release today, signed by Deputy Commissioner of DMP Muhammad Talebur Rahman.

Police said the murder was carried out following the instructions of a Saudi expatriate, Arafat Hossain, 22. 

The other arrestees are Taslima Akter, 18, Md Sakib Khan, 22, Nayan Mia, 22, Nuruzzaman Shyamol, 20 and Rakib Mia, 22.

The arrests were made on December 31 in Narayanganj and Tongi East areas, and an easy-bike used in the crime was recovered. The DB (Wari) Division, which took over the investigation on November 26, said all the accused have been sent to court.

According to DB sources, Taslima Akter of Narayanganj had earlier been in a relationship with the victim, Al Adiyat Sair, 17, during which he allegedly took and circulated objectionable photographs of her.

She later entered into a relationship with Saudi expatriate Arafat Hossain. After becoming aware of the circulation of the photos, Arafat reportedly told her that he would address the matter upon his return to Bangladesh.

The DB sources further said as part of the plan, Arafat returned to the country on November 2. The following day, Taslima went out with the victim to the Purbachal 300-Feet area and later to Ulukhola in Gazipur, where the other accused joined them. 

The victim was subsequently killed in Pubail area of Gazipur, and his body was dumped beside the Ghorashal-Tongi highway before the accused fled the scene.
