CHATTOGRAM, Dec 31, 2025 (BSS) – ‘Gayebana Janaza’ and ‘Doa Mahfil’ for BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia were held in various places in the city and different upazilas of the district today. 

Different socio-cultural, political organizations, and educational institutions, including Chattogram University, CUET and various mosque committees in Chattogram organized the 'Gayebana Janaza' and ‘Doa Mahfil’ at around 3:00 pm today.

Besides, special prayers were held at various places of worship in the city and surrounding areas, including mosques, temples, churches, and pagodas seeking divine peace for the departed soul. 

Different socio-cultural organizations in the city and district also organized special prayers after Asr prayers seeking peace of the departed soul of Begum Zia.

Hundreds of people gathered at Jamiatul Falah Maidan to attend the Gayebana Janaza of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda. Renowned Islamic scholar and Khatib of Jamiatul Falah Maidan Mosque led the Namaz-e-Janaza at 3:05 pm today. 

A large number of people from various parts of the city and different upazilas of the district gathered at the Jamiatul Falah Maidan and its surrounding areas to join the Janaza.
Khaleda Zia, a three-time Prime Minister, passed away at Evercare Hospital around 6:00 am on Tuesday(December 30) after receiving treatment for over a month.
