Int’l conference on Electrical, Information Technology begins at KUET

KHULNA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) – Speakers at an international conference here on Thursday emphasized technology research for building ‘Smart Bangladesh.’

They made the remarks at the 7th International Conference on Electrical, Information and Communication Technology (EICT-2025) which began at Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET).

The inaugural session of the international conference was held at the university auditorium, organized by the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

The Secretary of the ICT Division of the Government of Bangladesh, Shish Haider Chowdhury, joined the event virtually as the chief guest. 

In his inaugural address, he said, “In this era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we must ensure the maximum use of artificial intelligence, robotics, and information technology. This initiative by KUET will serve as a strong platform to take the innovative ideas of young researchers to the international level.”

The Chief Patron of the event and Vice-Chancellor of KUET, Professor Dr. Md. Maksud Helali, said, “There is no alternative to research if we are to keep pace with global technological changes. The outcomes of the research papers presented at this conference will make significant contributions to solving problems in our country’s industrial sector.”

As an honored guest, the Chair of the IEEE Bangladesh Section, Professor Dr. Mohammad Imamul Hasan Bhuiyan, also addressed the conference virtually.

The Technical Committee Chair of the conference is Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), while the Conference Chair is Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. 

The Organizing Chair is Professor Dr. Kazi Md. Rakibul Alam from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

The three-day international conference, running from December 18 to 20, will feature discussions by local and international experts on modern research, challenges, and prospects in the electrical and ICT sectors.

Organized with the support of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the conference will see several hundred researchers from home and abroad presenting their research papers. 

Out of 1,042 technical papers submitted from 15 countries worldwide, 142 selected papers will be presented across 25 technical sessions.

Researchers, academics, renowned engineers, and technologists from countries including the United States, France, Japan, Canada, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, India, and Bangladesh are participating in the conference.
