NILPHAMARI, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - A three-month long skill development
training programme has been launched in the district with the aim of reducing
unemployment and creating new livelihood opportunities.
The training was inaugurated on Wednesday morning at the Technical Training
Center by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) Abdus Samad
Sikder.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the non-
governmental development organisation RDRS Bangladesh under the Human
Resource Development Fund project of the Ministry of Finance.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, RDRS Bangladesh Chief Social Development
Officer Md. Mojibul Haque, who presided over the event, highlighted the
importance of enhancing technical skills among youths.
Project Manager Abdul Mannan, Project Coordinator Md. Matiur Rahman, and
General Secretary of Nilphamari Press Club Nur Alam also addressed the
programme.
The three-month long training will cover two trades-- mobile phone repair and
tailoring and dressmaking.
Rajib Islam, an official of RDRS Bangladesh, said a total of 48 participants-
- 24 in each trade-- are currently receiving training under the project.
Under the same Human Resource Development Fund project, a total of 192
trainees will receive training in eight batches, he said, adding, "In all,
six different trades are being offered to help eliminate unemployment,
enhance skills, and foster entrepreneurship in the region."
