NAOGAON, Dec 10, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 160 sacks of government fertilizer were seized in Dhamairhat upazila after a truck carrying the consignment failed to produce proper documentation, officials said.
According to local sources, the truck-loaded with 130 sacks of DAP fertilizer and 30 sacks of TSP fertilizer-was intercepted on Tuesday night in front of Sonali Bank at Purba Bazar in Dhamairhat.
Residents became suspicious when the people accompanying the vehicle were unable to show legal destination papers or distribution documents.
The fertilizer was reportedly collected earlier in the afternoon from the Naogaon BADC warehouse by Lipi Rani Sarkar, owner of BADC dealer M/s Sarkar Traders, and brought to Dhamairhat later that night. Locals stopped the truck and promptly notified police and the agriculture department.
A joint team from Dhamairhat Police Station and the upazila agriculture office arrived at the scene and took custody of the truck, driver, and the seized fertilizer. The consignment has since been deposited at the police station.
