PANCHAGARH, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS) - A woman was tragically killed after falling from a motorcycle and coming under the wheels of a truck on the Panchagarh-Dhaka highway on Tuesday morning. 

The deceased Rina Akhter, 45, was the headmistress of Debiganj Perfect Academy. Her husband, Saiful Islam, 53, superintendent of Sheikhbandha Reazia Dakhil Madrasa, sustained injuries in the accident.

The accident took place around 11.30 am in front of the Panchagarh BGB-18 Battalion in Telipara area of Panchagarh Municipality.

According to Police source, the couple was travelling from Debiganj to Panchagarh town on a motorcycle for official purposes. While attempting to overtake a truck, their motorcycle reportedly struck a speed breaker, causing them to lose control. Rina fell under the wheel of the truck and died instantly. 

Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station Ashraful Islam confirmed the matter and said the truck involved in the accident has been seized.

Preparations are underway to file a case, he added.
