Accused in Dinajpur's NGO woman rape case held in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Dec 5, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the 
accused in the rape of a woman working in an NGO in Dinajpur has been 
arrested from Nur Pathan Para village under Pirgachha Police Station of the 
district today. 
 
The arrested accused is Md Masum Reza Mukul, 47, son of late Mokbul Hossain 
of Ratanpur (Mandal Para) village under Birampur Police Station of Dinajpur 
district, a press release said here this afternoon.
 
Citing the statement in the complaint filed by the plaintiff, the release 
said that the NGO employee victim woman had been living as a tenant in the 
house of the arrested accused Md Masum Reza Mukul for the last three years. 
 
While living as a tenant, the arrested accused often made sexual advances to 
her. When she rejected his sexual advances, the accused fraudulently entered 
her bedroom and forcibly raped her against her will and forcibly took away 
two 'tolas' of gold ornaments and cash of Taka 1.38 lakh kept in her 
cupboard. 
 
In the said incident, the victim herself filed a complaint in the learned 
court, and the court ordered Birampur Police Station to accept the complaint 
of the accused and file an FIR. 
 
In view of this, Birampur Police Station of Dinajpur recorded a rape case on 
November 24, 2025. 
 
On a tip-off, a joint team of the RAB-13 [Dinajpur Camp and Rangpur Sadar 
Company] conducted a raid in Nur Pathan Para village of Rangpur and arrested 
the main accused in this case Md Masum Reza Mukul at 1:35 am on Friday.
 
The arrested accused has been handed over to Birampur Police Station for 
further legal action, the release added.
