NARSINGDI, Nov 19, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested a suspected murderer named Siddique Sarkar from Sylhet on charges of murdering Abdul Barek Bepary of Sadar upazila in Narsingdi four days ago.

The elite-anti-crime force said their RAB-11 and RAB-9 units which covers the Narsingdi and Sylhet regions arrested the suspect under a coordinated campaign.

RAB-11 commander and police’s additional superintendent M Mohid Kabir Serniabat said the personnel of his unit arrested the suspect in a joint operation with RAB-9 members from Bagbari Etim School Road area under Kotwali Police Station at 10:30am.

On November 15, a group of six people including Sarkar and more unidentified strangulated to death 75-year-old Barek Bepary over a land related feud and then fled the scene, he said.

Bepary’s son Noor Mohammad filed a case with Narsingdi Sadar Police Station against six named and other unnamed individuals.

The RAB handed Siddique over to police for subsequent legal procedure.
