PATUAKHALI, Nov 1, 2025 (BSS) - The traditional Raas Purnima and Raas Mela, one of the largest religious and cultural festivals of the Hindu community, will begin on November 4 at Kuakata sea beach in Patuakhali district.

The four-day celebration will continue until November 7.

A preparatory meeting for the event was held on Friday night at the Kuakata Sri Sri Radhakrishna Temple and Pilgrimage Seva Ashram, with Engineer Nihar Ranjan Mandol, general secretary of the organizing committee, in the chair.

Following the meeting, organizers confirmed that all preparations have been completed in coordination with the local administration to ensure smooth celebration of the festival. Arrangements have been made to address key issues including security, healthcare, cleanliness, and traffic management.

The meeting was attended by Kalapara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kausar Hamid as the chief guest, while Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Kuakata Municipal Administrator Yasin Sadek, Assistant Superintendent of Tourist Police Md. Habibur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Mahipur Police Station Md. Mahmud Hasan, and President of Kuakata Hotel-Motel Owners Association M.A. Motaleb Sharif were present as special guests.

UNO Kausar Hamid said, “Raas Festival is a part of Kuakata’s rich tradition. The administration has taken all necessary measures so that devotees and tourists can enjoy the festival without any inconvenience.”

Assistant Superintendent of Tourist Police Md. Habibur Rahman said that a large number of devotees and visitors are expected to gather during the festival. “To maintain law and order, security personnel will be deployed at multiple levels,” he added.

The Raas Festival, observed every year on the full moon day of the Bangla month of Kartik, marks the celebration of Lord Krishna’s Rasleela and Lakshmi Puja. Over time, it has evolved into a major socio-cultural and tourism event for Kuakata, drawing people of all religions and backgrounds.

During the festival, the Kuakata beach transforms into a vibrant and spiritual hub, as thousands of devotees and tourists from across the country participate in holy bathing, worship, and various cultural activities. The event not only fosters religious harmony but also plays a vital role in boosting the local economy and tourism industry.
