CHUADANGA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Three shopkeepers have been fined Taka 28,000 in Munshiganj Bazar of Alamdanga upazila of the district for selling expired medicines and products without expiry dates.
A team of National Consumer Rights Protection Department led by Mohammad Mamunul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Chuadanga District Office conducted a drive at the bazaar on Thursday afternoon and fined the shopkeepers.
The team inspected dental clinics, seed and pesticide shops, bakeries, and grocery stores in the area to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.
During the drive, M/s. Babu Store, owned by Md. Sihab Uddin, was fined Taka 15,000 for failing to provide complete information about product expiry dates and manufacturing details. M/s. Mallick Dental, owned by Md. Shakib Hossain, was fined Taka 3,000, and Medical and Dental, owned by Md. Arifuzzaman Farz, was fined Taka 10,000 for using expired medicines in dental treatment.
A total of Taka 28,000 in fines was realized from the three shopkeepers.
In addition, several other shops and dental clinics were inspected. Officials issued warnings and instructions to ensure that all establishments maintain valid certificates, update price lists, and sell products at fixed and reasonable prices.
They also emphasized the importance of refraining from selling expired or substandard goods and medicines.
