CHATTOGRAM, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two more individuals in connection with the murder of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist Md Sajjad, who was killed during a clash over political dominance and the hoisting of banners marking the founding anniversary of Jubo Dal.
The incident occurred in the Access Road Madina Residential Area under Baklia Police Station in the city.
Baklia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ikhtiar Uddin on Thursday confirmed the arrests, saying that the detainees are Yusuf Prakash Hiron, 25, son of Md Ibrahim, and Riaz Karim, 33, son of the late Anu Mia.
Yusuf Prakash Hiron and Riaz Karim are accused number five and ten respectively in the case.
Police recovered a foreign-made pistol and live bullets from their possession.
Earlier, police had arrested eight individuals, including six named accused, during a raid conducted on Tuesday night in connection with the same case.
OC Ikhtiar Uddin said that Yusuf Prakash Hiron was arrested from the Mir Bari area under Chandgaon Police Station at around 1:30 am on Wednesday.
Based on his information, police recovered a Spanish-made pistol, a bullet, and a bullet shell used in the murder from the construction materials sales office of SBN Enterprise in the Suravi Residential Area (Khalpar) under Baklia Police Station.
Later, Riaz Karim was arrested from the Jangalkhain area of Patiya upazila.
The incident took place around 12:30 am on Monday, October 27, when JCD activist Md Sajjad, 22, was shot dead during a clash over local dominance and the hoisting of banners to mark Jubo Dal's founding anniversary.
At least 14 others were injured in the clash that occurred in front of the Madina Residential Area near Baklia Access Road.
Following the incident, Sajjad's father, Md Alam, filed a case on October 28 against 17 named and 40 unidentified individuals with Baklia Police Station.
