SATKHIRA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Eight shops were gutted in a fire at Hazrakati Bazar of Khalilnagar union under Tala upazila of the district early today.

“The fire might be originated from a stove around 3 am and soon engulfed the adjacent shops,” said Tala Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mainuddin.

Being informed, two units of Tala and Dumuria Fire Service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control after about two hours of effort. 

However, a total of eight shops were burnt to ashes in the fire. The fire may have caused an estimated loss of Taka 8 lakh.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Deepa Rani Sarkar, Officer-in-Charge of Tala Police Station Md. Mainuddin and District Jamaat Naib-e-Amir Maulana Dr. Mahmudul Haque visited the spot on Thursday morning and inquired about the victims.
