CHATTOGRAM, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) – A fourth-grade student drowned in a pond at Mahajan Bari under Rangunia upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Sampurna Saha Mimi, 10, daughter of Liton Saha, a garment worker of Sushil Daktar Bari in Swanirbhar Rangunia Union, and a student of Class IV at Rangunia Government Primary School.

Family members said Mimi accidentally slipped and fell into the pond, leading to her drowning.

Later, locals rescued her from the pond and took her to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
