CHATTOGRAM, Oct 29, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the murder of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activist Md. Sajjad.
The incident occurred during a clash over banner hanging on Baklia Access Road in the city.
The individuals were arrested in a coordinated operation conducted by the City Detective Branch (North-South) Division and Baklia Police Station across various areas of the city from October 28 to October 29.
The arrested individuals include Sabuj Islam Miraj (24), Md. Saidul Islam (20), Emran Hossain Sagar (30), Jihan (22), Md. Tamjidul Islam Prince alias Saju (47), Md. Arafat (22), Md. Osman (28), and Didarul Alam Russell (40).
Police reported that on Monday, a JCD activist was killed and 18 others were injured in a clash over local dominance and the hoisting of banners to mark Jubo Dal's founding anniversary.
The incident occurred in front of the Madina residential area near the Baklia access road.
The deceased's father, Md. Alam, filed a case with the Baklia police station, naming 17 people and 35 to 40 unknown individuals as accused.
OC Ikhtiar Uddin of Baklia police station, stated that the DB and police have arrested eight individuals in connection with Sajjad's murder, with efforts ongoing to apprehend others involved.
