NATORE, Oct 28, 2025 (BSS) - A three-day 'Agricultural Technology and Nutrition Fair' began today in the district with the aim of promoting modern agricultural practices, innovation, and nutrition awareness among farmers.
Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen formally inaugurated the fair at 11:00 am at the grounds of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Dowla Government College.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner said the present agriculture-friendly government is working relentlessly for the development of agriculture and the welfare of farmers.
She highlighted that the government continues to provide regular subsidies and incentives for agriculture, ensuring easy access to inputs such as fertilizer and diesel.
She added that the introduction of modern technologies and the innovation of new high-yield seed varieties through research are among the key initiatives undertaken to boost agricultural productivity.
The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Md. Habibul Islam Khan, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Natore.
Professor Abdul Bari Mirza, Principal of Nawab Siraj-Ud-Dowla Government College and Superintendent of Police Md. Tariqul Islam attended the event as special guests.
A total of 21 stalls have been set up at the fair, showcasing a variety of exhibits including the plant doctor clinic, technology corner, nutrition village, modern agricultural machinery, and displays by women entrepreneurs.
Organized under the project "Strengthening Nutrition and Food Security through Agricultural Development," the fair aims to enhance farmers' socio-economic conditions by promoting sustainable and nutrition-sensitive agricultural practices.
One of the major attractions of the fair is a map of Natore district creatively crafted from locally produced crops - garlic, onion, mustard, paddy, wheat, corn, and mung beans - representing the highest-yielding crops in each of the district's seven upazilas. The unique display has drawn significant attention from visitors.
The fair will continue for three days, offering farmers and visitors opportunities to explore innovations and share knowledge in the field of modern agriculture.
