BAGERHAT, Oct 26, 2025 (BSS) - A woman was killed and two others were injured when a truck hit a passenger van in the Bahirdia Jamrultala area of Fakirhat upazila on Saturday evening.

The deceased was identified as Sikta Khatun. 

The accident occurred around 6:30pm on the Bagerhat-Rupsa old road when a Rupsa-bound truck collided head-on with a van heading towards Fakirhat Bazar, police and local sources said.

Sikta died on the way to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex, while the injured were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment.

Confirming the incident, Fakirhat Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdur Razzak Mir said police seized the truck and arrested its driver and helper from Bahirdia Camp area.

The body was handed over to the family after legal formalities, the OC added.
