SIRAJGANJ, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan has said that Jamaat leaders and activists were the worst victims of persecution during the rule of the fascist Awami League government.

They tried to eliminate the activities of the Islamists and Jamaat from the country, he said.

Addressing the district Jamaat's biannual members' (Rukon) conference at the Sirajganj Shilpakala Academy today, he said that the then government of Awami League carried out killings, abductions and judicial executions of innocent Jamaat leaders under false accusations, creating a "shameful chapter" in history.

He demanded the trial of those involved in such "judicial killings" in a special tribunal.

Rafiqul Islam Khan also called for creating a level playing field ahead of the national election.

He said if Jamaat gets the opportunity to serve, it will build a corruption-free Bangladesh.

The conference was presided over by Sirajganj District Jamaat Ameer and Jamaat-nominated MP candidate for Sirajganj-1 (Kazipur) constituency Maulana Shahinur Alam.

Central Working Committee Member and Jamaat candidate for Sirajganj-3 (Raiganj-Tarash) constituency Dr Abdus Samad and Pabna District Ameer Professor Abu Taleb Mondol attended as special guests.

District Naib-e-Ameer Principal Ali Alam, Maulana Abdus Salam, local Jamaat leaders and around 1,750 male and female members (Rukon) were present.

District Secretary and Jamaat candidate for Sirajganj-2 (Sadar) constituency Lecturer Zahidul Islam conducted the event.
