PIROJPUR, Oct 25, 2025 (BSS)- Pirojpur District unit Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Ziaur Rahman Foundation have jointly honoured two veterans, Shahjahan Badsha and Hemayet Hossain, for participating in the voluntary canal digging programme with BNP founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in 1977.

The honorary crests were handed over yesterday after the Arafat Rahman Koko Memorial Football Tournament at Bhabanipur playground in Indurkani upazila.

The two veteran BNP activists became emotional, recalling how Ziaur Rahman worked with them like a common labourer.

 
They said the recognition was one of the greatest achievements of their lives.

Ziaur Rahman Foundation Director Saeed Khan said this duo is inspirations for the young generation. 

Pirojpur District BNP Member-Secretary Saidul Islam Kismat attended as chief guest on the occasion.

Ziaur Rahman had visited Pirojpur in 1977 and took part in the nationwide canal digging campaign aimed at boosting agriculture.
