CHITTAGONG, Oct 24, 2025 (BSS) – Three children have died after drowning in a pond at Uttar Parua village of Parua union under Rangunia upazila here this afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Sumaiya Akhter, 5, daughter of M Raju, Habiba Akhter, 6, daughter of M Kalu Akhter and Jannat Akhter, 5, daughter of M Naser.

Local sources said the three children went to the pond while playing behind their houses. When they did not return, their family members started searching for them. Later, their bodies were recovered from the pond and taken to a local physician who confirmed their deaths.

“We are shocked at the death of three children as a shadow of mourning has engulfed the entire area”, said Parua Union Parishad Chairman Ektehar Hossain.
