JHENAIDAH, Oct 19, 2025 (BSS) - A woman was killed this morning after being hit by a train in the Babra Rail Gate area under Kaliganj upazila of the district.

The deceased was Barai Biswas, 60, wife of the late Adhir Das of Tilla village in the upazila. She was reportedly mentally unstable.

The accident occurred around 8:30 am.

The woman was sitting on the railway line in the Babra Rail Gate area on Sunday morning. When locals saw the train approaching, they asked her to move away, but she did not listen. As a result, she was run over by the train and died on the spot.

The Station Master of Mobarakganj Railway Station, Touhidul Islam, said the woman was killed after being run over by the Rajshahi-bound 'Kapotaksha Express' train that left Khulna.
