RANGPUR, Oct 18, 2025 (BSS) - Officials and health experts have called on the 
media to inspire the public to make the Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) 
Campaign-2025 a success to boost children's immunity and avoid their future 
health risks.
 
They made the observation at a divisional-level consultation workshop on TCV 
campaign with media people and journalists held at the Divisional 
Commissioner's conference room in the city on Saturday.
 
With assistance from the Divisional Commissioner's Office and UNICEF, 
National Institute of Mass Communication (NIMC) organised the event, 
participated by journalists from the print, electronic and online media.
 
Rangpur Divisional Director (Local Government) Md Abu Jafar attended the 
event as the chief guest with NIMC Director General Muhammad Hiruzzaman in 
the chair.
 
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Gausul Azim Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner 
Muhammad Rabiul Faisal, Director of Divisional Information Office Md 
Mofakhkharul Iqbal, Civil Surgeon Dr Shahin Sultana and Monjur Ahmed and 
Behaviour Change Officer at UNICEF Rangpur Field Office Monjur Ahmed spoke as 
special guests.
 
Director (Training program) of NIMC Dr Md Maruf Nawaz delivered a welcome 
address in the workshop, moderated by Assistant Director (Mass communication) 
of NIMC Mukbul Hossain.
 
Assistant Director of Rangpur District Information Office Md Alamgir Kabir 
delivered a presentation on the month-long TCV Vaccination Campaign- 2025.
 
Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Rabiul Faisal said that media workers can play 
the most important role in creating widespread public awareness to make the 
TCV campaign successful to protect children from typhoid throughout their 
lives.
 
Civil Surgeon Dr Shahin Sultana sought media cooperation to bring 100 percent 
of all children, aged nine months to 15 years, under TCV coverage to increase 
their immunity against the serious disease of typhoid.
 
Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Gausul Azim Chowdhury said that 
registrations of 17,82,081 children out of the total targeted 48,99,822 
children have been completed in Rangpur division.
 
"Among them, 9,85,556 children have been vaccinated with TCV in the division 
so far," he said, adding that close monitoring and coordination are being 
carried out at all levels to make the campaign a success.
 
NIMC DG Muhammad Hiruzzaman said typhoid weakens and destroys the immune 
system of children and damages various organs, making their lives miserable. 
 
Each typhoid vaccine costs around Taka 4,500 in private markets and 
hospitals. As a result, it is not possible for the common man to buy TCV to 
vaccinate their children. 
 
"Therefore, journalists should play the most important role in motivating and 
encouraging parents so that they can bring every child under the free typhoid 
vaccination campaign," he said.
 
Chief guest Md Abu Zafar said that TCV is completely safe and it boosts the 
immunity of children and protects them from typhoid, a serious disease, 
throughout their lives.
 
"Journalists should disseminate accurate information against false propaganda 
and encourage the general public to make the TCV campaign a success for the 
normal development of all children to build a healthy and talented nation," 
he added.
