PIROJPUR, Oct 12, 2025 (BSS) - The upazila administration and the Department of Fisheries conducted a drive in the Kocha River under Indurkani upazila of the district to protect mother hilsa during the ongoing conservation period.
During the operation, one thousand metres of illegal fishing nets and a "behendi" net were seized and later burnt to ashes.
The drive was conducted on Saturday, led by Upazila Fisheries Officer Fahad Rahman.
The confiscated nets were burnt in the field of the upazila administration in presence of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Hasan Bin Mohammad Ali, under the supervision of Marine Fisheries Officer Md Ainul Nishat and the River Police.
Upazila Fisheries Officer Fahad Rahman said that the drive will continue to make the ongoing 22-day ban successful to protect mother hilsa. "Legal actions will be taken against those who violate the government restrictions," he added.
