Over 637 metric tons rice allocated for 1,275 puja mandap in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 637.500 tonnes rice have been allocated for distribution to 1,275 puja mandaps in 13 upazilas of the district. 

Dinajpur Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Anisur Rahman confirmed the matter and said the distribution of rice to 13 upazilas has started from Sunday morning through the concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officers and Upazila Relief and Rehabilitation Officers. 

The distribution of the allocated rice to the puja mandaps will be completed by September 25. 

He said that of the allocated rice, 81 metric tons will be distributed in 162 mandaps in Sadar upazila, 49 metric tons in 98 mandaps in Biral, 80 metric tons in 161 mandaps in Parbatipur, 29 metric tons in 59 mandaps in Phulbari, 78 metric tons in 156 mandaps in Chirirbandar, 39 metric tons in 78 mandaps in Bochaganj, 68 metric tons in 136 mandaps in Khansama, 10 metric tons in 20 mandaps in Hakimpur, 81 metric tons in 163 mandaps in Birganj, 20 metric tons in 41 mandaps in Birampur, 33 metric tons in 67 mandaps in Nawabganj, 47 metric tons in 94 mandaps in Kaharole and 20 metric tons in 40 mandaps in Ghoraghat upazila.

Dinajpur Puja Udjavan Parishad President Swarup Bakshi Bachchu said that this time it has been decided to celebrate Durga Puja in 1,275 mandaps in the district. 

Dinajpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam said that all preparations have been made by the district administration and police administration to celebrate the Sharadiya Durga Puja festival in the district in a peaceful environment. 

He said that a meeting has already been completed with the leaders of the District Puja Celebration Council and the Puja Celebration Committee of each upazila. All measures have been taken to hold the festival in this district peacefully like the rest of the country.
