CHANDPUR, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS) - The Department of Consumer Rights Protection has fined eight shops Taka 80,000 for various irregularities in Matlab upazila of the district.

A mobile team led by Abdullah Al Imran, assistant director of the department, conducted a drive at Matlab and Munshirhat markets with the help of the army from Wednesday morning to afternoon. 
                                   
During the drive, the team fined Abdul High Store and Gazi Traders Taka 3,000 and Taka 2,000, respectively, at Munshirhat Bazar for not having a price list in accordance with the Consumer Rights Protection Act.

The team also realized Taka 10,000 to Bhai Bhai Hotel for making sweets in a dirty and unhealthy environment at Matlab Bazar, Taka 20,000 to Adi Gandhi Ghosh for the same offense, Taka 30,000 to Ghosh Cabin, Taka 5,000 to Muslim Sweet Meat, Taka 5,000 to Delwar Hotel for not having a price list, and Taka 5,000 to Babul Meat Shop for storing spoiled meat in the refrigerator.

The accused institutions promised to refrain from committing such irregularities again. 
    
In addition, as part of regular monitoring, other institutions were inspected and leaflets and pamphlets were distributed to raise public awareness and refrain from activities against consumer rights.
