RAJSHAHI, Sept 15, 2025 (BSS)- All sorts of necessary measures were taken to celebrate Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the Hindu community, in a peaceful and festive mood.

In the district, the five-day Durgotsab will be celebrated in 462 mondaps, consisting of 382 in rural areas and 80 in the city, from September 28.

The festival will begin amid Shasti and will end through Dashami. 

These were revealed in a preparatory meeting for the Sharadiya Durgotsab held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (DC)'s Office today. DC Afia Akhter presided over the meeting.

The DC said the Sharadia Durgotsab is the largest religious festival of the Hindu Community. Idol-making works in each of the mondaps are progressing in full-swing. On behalf of the district and upazila administrations, all sorts of measures were taken to make the celebration successful and peaceful. 

DC Afia Akhter said all the law-enforcing agencies will remain high alert during the festival. In each of the Puja mondaps, police, Ansar and RAB will remain on patrol. Volunteers will also extend support. Close Circuit Camera will be installed in the important mondaps.

Members of Hindu Kallyan Trust, representatives of Puja Udjapan Parishad and members of the law-enforcing agencies were present at the meeting.

Meanwhile, idol-makers and artisans are passing their busiest days in idol-making and decoration at present.
