KHULNA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS) - An extended meeting of the Khulna district Puja celebration committee was held yesterday at the Sheetalamata Thakurani Mandir to discuss preparations for the upcoming Durga Puja and ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration.
Addressing the meeting as the chief guest, Bijoy Kumar Ghosh, advisor to the central Puja celebration committee, emphasized the need for unity, harmony, and cooperation among all stakeholders.
He said that Durga Puja is not only a major religious event for the Hindu community but also a national festival that reflects the spirit of brotherhood and cultural inclusivity in Bangladesh.
Ghosh urged local puja organizers and devotees to strictly follow the 25-point directive issued by the central Puja celebration committee to maintain order and ensure safety throughout the festivities.
Former advisor to the central Puja celebration committee, Sujit Saha, attended the meeting as a special guest. The event was presided over by Ratan Kumar Maitra, vice-president of the Khulna district Puja celebration committee. Among others, Biman Saha, General Secretary of the district committee, also spoke at the meeting.
As part of the preparations, a 31-member Khulna district Puja celebration monitoring committee was formed. Ratan Kumar Maitra was appointed as the convener and Shimul Kumar Das as the member secretary.
