SUNAMGANJ, Sept 11, 2025 (BSS) - A training workshop on how to prevent the spread of fake news and produce objective news for the district-level journalists was held at the district Circuit House conference room today.
Bangladesh Press Council organised the workshop while its Chairman Justice AKM Abdul Hakim delivered his speech as the chief guest at the event this morning.
Stressing on presenting objective news, he said that journalism is a great profession and one has to perform duties with honesty and ethics.
"Such workshops aim to raise awareness and provide best practices for fact-checking and verification, as fake news poses a significant threat to social stability by spreading rapidly through digital platforms, he said.
He also said that the Press Council is working to ensure the rights of journalists including the Journalist Protection Act, Code of Conduct, Copyright, Disclosure of News Sources, Protection of Confidentiality, Gaining Trust and Caution in Quotations.
At the workshop, presided over by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Mohammad Ilias Mia, Press Council Secretary Md. Abdus Sabur spoke as a resource person.
Superintendent of Police Md. Tofail Ahmed spoke as a special guest.
Editor of Daily Sunamganj Dak newspaper Shergul Ahmed, Editor of the Daily Sunamganjer Khabor newspaper Pankaj Kanti Dey, journalists Latifur Rahman Raju, Sujan Mizanur Rahman, Khalil Rahman, Muhammad Aminul Haque, Gias Chowdhury participated at the questionnaire session.
At the end of the workshop, the guests handed over certificates to the participants.
