Business establishment fined Tk 25,000 in Rangpur

RANGPUR, Sept 10, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court has fined a business establishment Tk 25,000 for using the BSTI standard mark on product packages without obtaining the mandatory Certification Marks (CM) license at Baruahat Bazar in Kawnia upazila of the district.

The drive was jointly conducted on Wednesday by the Rangpur divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and the Kawnia upazila administration, said official press release.

Executive Magistrate and Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Mahidul Haque led the mobile court.

During the operation, the court imposed the fine on Messer's Tanha Food Garden at Baruahat Bazar for illegally using the BSTI standard mark without proper licensing.

The BSTI team included Field Officers (Certification Marks) Khondker Md Zaminur Rahman and Md Zulkarnain, along with Inspector (Metrology) Md Nasir Uddin.

Deputy Director (Physical) and Chief of the Rangpur divisional office of BSTI, Mobin-Ul-Islam, told BSS that such drives will continue in the public interest to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
