KHULNA, Sept 8, 2025 (BSS) - A departmental case has been filed against former Civil Surgeon of Khulna district Dr Sujat Ahmed over allegations of misconduct and corruption.

The Secretary of the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare filed the case last month under the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 2018.

On August 26, a notice was issued directing him to respond within 10 working days.

Dr Sujat, now serving as Deputy Director of Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH), has been asked to show cause why he should not face dismissal or other major penalties for alleged misconduct and corruption.

According to the notice signed by Md Saidur Rahman, Secretary of the Discipline Branch, Dr Sujat was ordered on August 24, 2020, to be relieved from his post as acting Civil Surgeon of Khulna and to join as acting Civil Surgeon of Gopalganj within seven working days.

However, he was released on the eighth day. Despite the transfer order, he allegedly floated tenders and awarded work orders for staff recruitment through outsourcing during 2020-2022, violating Public Procurement Rules (PPR) and disregarding a High Court order.

The ministry stated that his actions amounted to misconduct and corruption under clauses 3(b) and 3(gh) of the Government Servants (Discipline and Appeal) Rules.

He has also been asked to state whether he wishes to attend a personal hearing.
