KHAGRACHARI, Sept 6, 2025 (BSS) - The Buddhist community in Khagrachari is observing Madhu Purnima, one of their most sacred festivals, with solemnity and devotion.

Since Saturday morning, religious rituals and ceremonies have been held at monasteries across the district to mark the auspicious occasion.

Madhu Purnima holds deep spiritual significance for Buddhists. It falls on the full moon of the second month of the three-month-long Borsha Brata (rainy season retreat) of the monastic community.

On this day, Buddhists offer collective prayers wishing peace, happiness, and well-being for the nation and all humankind.

Devotees also take part in various meritorious activities, including Pancha-shila (Five Precepts) ceremonies, offerings to the Buddha and the monastic Sangha, donations of food and the eight requisites for monks (known as Ashta Pariskar), and Pindadana (offering of alms) to monks.

Men and women of the Buddhist community have been participating in these religious and charitable acts since the early hours of the day.
