RANGPUR, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) – Police arrested four members, including three brothers, of an online casino and dollar fraud ring from the Dhap Nayapara area under Mithapukur upazila of the district at 11 pm on Thursday.
 
Mithapukur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur Alam Siddiqui said the arrested fraudsters are Habibur Rahman, 32, Hafizur Rahman, 33, and Shamim Mia, 24, sons of Lal Mia and Suman Sarkar alias Titas, 28, son of Sultan Mia of the same area.
 
“Based on the complaint filed by Ripon Mia, a victim of Sherpur district, a special police team of Mithapukur police station led by SI Emdadul Haque conducted a drive, arrested the fraudster gang and seized various tools used in the fraud,” he said.

The gang had been defrauding ordinary people of Rangpur and other districts by trapping them in the name of operating online casinos and buying and selling dollars for a long time. 
 
They would first invite the victims to different places with tempting offers. Then, they would skillfully make them unconscious and snatch away the money, mobile phones and valuables they had with them.
 
“Legal action has been taken in this regard and the arrested persons have been sent to jail through the court,” the OC said, adding that operations will continue to bring other members of this gang under law.
