DHAKA, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) - Khilgaon Thana Police arrested another individual for his alleged involvement in an attack on an on-duty traffic constable in Dhaka's Khilgaon area.
The detainee was identified as Mostafizur Rahman Babu, 47.
He was arrested during a raid in the Khilgaon area around midnight today, according to a police press release.
Earlier, on September 2 around 2:45 pm, traffic constable Rabiul Islam was on duty at the South Signal in Khilgaon. At that time, Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain of Mugda Medical College Hospital, coming from the North Signal in his personal car, got stuck at the traffic signal.
Frustrated by the delay, Dr. Hossain reportedly abused the constable and accused him of taking bribes. When constable Rabiul Islam questioned him, he allegedly threatened the officer and left the scene.
Around 3:00 pm the same day, Dr. Hossain returned with 10-12 unknown individuals riding 6-7 motorcycles.
The group reportedly assaulted Constable Rabiul Islam, kicking and throwing him to the ground, causing serious injuries to his chest, back and other parts of his body.
ASI Rabiul Hasan, who intervened, was also pushed, and his hand badge was torn off. Police reinforcements arrived after higher authorities were informed via radio and rescued the officers.
Following the attack, traffic constable Rabiul Islam filed a regular case, leading to the arrest of Dr. Anwar Hossain on the same day.
