CHANDPUR, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS) - A sweetmeat shop was fined Taka 40,000 for selling expired sweet (rasmalai) and mixing dyes in ghee at Old Market area of the district town today.
A team led by Abdullah Al Imran, assistant director of the District Office under National Consumer Rights Protection Department, conducted a drive in the area and fined Meem Bonoful Sweets and Pastry Shop Taka 40,000.
Abdullah Al Imran said the sweetmeat shop was fined for making sweets in a dirty and unhygienic environment, making expired rasmalai and mixing dyes in ghee.
The owner of the shop Badsha Mia promised to refrain from committing such irregularities again.
As part of regular monitoring, other institutions were inspected and leaflets and pamphlets were distributed to increase public awareness and refrain from acts against consumer rights.
District Health Inspector Md. Nazrul Islam, Chandpur Municipality Health Inspector Md. Raju Mia and a team of the joint forces provided overall
support in the operation.
Such operations will continue in the public interest, Abdullah Al Imran added.
