SHERPUR, Aug 30, 2025 (BSS) - Two children drown in a Sherpur pond while picking water lilies on Friday evening (29 August) in the Chokpara Koroikandi area of the sadar upazila in the district. 

The deceased were identified as Fahima Akhter (9), daughter of Masek Ali, a resident of Chokpara area and Mst. Jemi (10), daughter of Joynuddin of the same area. 

Officer-in-charge of sadar thana (OC) Md. Zubaidul Alam told BSS. "Both the children went to pick water lilies in the morning and after that they went missing. When relatives started to look for them, their bodies were found in the evening". 

He also said, "After receiving information, Police visited the spot. An unnatural death case has been filed in this connection".
