MAGURA, Aug 25, 2025 (BSS)- World Breastfeeding Week-2025 was celebrated here today with the theme "Prioritize Breastfeeding, Build a Sustainable Support System".
Marking the day, a discussion meeting was held at the Civil Surgeon's Office here at 10 am today.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Ohidul Islam attended the meeting as the chief guest with Civil Surgeon Dr. Md. Shamim Kabir in the chair.
The Deputy Commissioner said breast milk is the best food for infants during the first six months of life as it provides all essential nutrients, antibodies, and immune support that a baby needs for optimal growth, development and long-term health.
"Breast milk is perfectly tailored to the baby's needs. It enhances babies' immunity and plays a vital role in their physical and mental development," he said.
He emphasized the active participation of families and society in protecting child health and ensuring maternal care.
Health officials, doctors, nurses and healthcare workers from different levels were present at the discussion meeting.
