95 complaints raised at ACC public hearing in Sirajganj, 34 resolved

SIRAJGANJ, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) - A total of 95 complaints were raised during the 181st public hearing of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) held at the District Shilpakala Academy here today.
 
Of these, 34 complaints were resolved immediately while 32 will be investigated directly by the ACC. Another 26 complaints have been referred for departmental investigations and three remain pending due to ongoing court proceedings.

Inaugurating the hearing event as the chief guest, ACC Commissioner (Investigation) Mian Muhammad Ali Akbar Azizi emphasized that corruption takes place due to conflicts and immoral practices between service providers and service recipients.

ACC is operating under a strict zero-tolerance policy, he added.

Azizi also stated that while the goal of public hearings is not solely to eradicate corruption, they aim to build a more transparent and prosperous Bangladesh by fostering accountability and integrity in public service.

The event was jointly organised by the ACC's Pabna Integrated District Office in collaboration with the Sirajganj District Administration and was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nazrul Islam.

Md. Fazlul Haque, director of the ACC's Rajshahi Divisional Office, gave a welcome speech on the occasion.

The auditorium was packed with citizens from all walks of life, including students, NGO workers, government employees and journalists.

Md. Akhtar Hossain, director general (Prevention), Md. Rezaul Karim, director general (Investigation-1) and Md. Faruk Hossain, superintendent of police (SP), Sirajganj were also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
