Journalist Rokonuddowla buried in Jashore with state honour

JASHORE, August 23, 2025(BSS) - Freedom fighter and a renowned journalist of the country Rokonuddowla was buried at the Karbala Graveyard in the town with state honour here this noon.

Earlier, his namaj-e-janaza was held on the Judge Court premises where people from all walks of life, including journalists, took part. He was given guard of honour by a smart contingent of police at the same venue.

The body of the senior journalist was taken to Jashore Press Club at about 12 noon where leaders of Jashore Press Club, leaders of both the unions and Jashore Photo Journalists Association paid their rich tributes. 

Later, BNP Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Aninda Islam Amit, general secretary of district BNP Delwar Hossain Khokon, leaders of United Communist League, CPB and Jatiya Ganotantrik Party paid their tributes to the deceased journalist.

Rokonuddowla, a renowned journalist of the country, also a Liberation War valerian died at Jashore 250-bed hospital at about 7pm on Friday at the age of 69.

He won many awards for journalism and wrote many books especially on the War of Liberation.
