SATKHIRA, Aug 20, 2025 (BSS) - A week-long tree fair began here today with 
the theme "Let's do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh"."

The district administration in cooperation with Social Forestry Department is 
organizing the fair at Abdur Razzak Park of the district town.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bishnupada Pal inaugurated the fair 
as the chief guest while Assistant Conservator of Forests of the Social 
Forest Department, Satkhira Priyanka Haldar was in the chair.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Shahinur Chowdhury, 
District Jamaat Ameer Vice-Principal Shahidul Islam Mukul, Deputy Director 
(DD) of the Department of Environment Sardar Shariful Islam, DD of the 
Department of District Youth Development Sanjit Kumar Das, Officer-in-Charge 
(OC) of the Social Forest Department GM Maruf Billah, Agricultural Engineer 
Harun Or Rashid, District Cultural Officer Faiza Hossain and President of the 
district Nursery Owners Association Mohammad Nurul Amin were present, among 
others.

Earlier, a colourful procession was brought from in front of Satkhira 
Government Girls High School and paraded the main streets of the town before 
ending at the fair venue.

On the occasion, tree saplings were distributed among the students of the 
district.

A total of 35 stalls have been set up at the fair premises, showcasing 
varieties of fruit, forest and medicinal plants.
