Manikganj, Aug 14, 2025 (BSS) - A mobile court has seized 15,000 metres of illegal dragnet from a shop near the Aricha Fish Market in the district.

Executive Magistrate and Shibalaya Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Zakir Hossain conducted the drive yesterday. 

The court confiscated the banned dragnets and publicly destroyed them by fire.

In addition, the shop owner was fined Tk. 10,000 for possessing and selling the illegal fishing gear.
UNO Md. Zakir Hossain said that such drives will continue in order to protect the country's fish resources and boost fish production.
