4,500 farmers get agri-incentives in Cumilla
CUMILLA, Nov 25, 2021 (BSS)- The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) today distributed seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentives among 4,500 small and marginal farmers of Manoharganj upazila of the district this morning.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Md. Zakir Hossain distributed the seeds and fertilizers among the farmers under the agricultural incentive and rehabilitation program as the chief guest at a function held at the Manoharganj upazila parishad auditorium this morning.
The chief guest said the present government is farmer-friendly one as it has taken various steps for development of agriculture.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Sujan Kumar Bhowmik told BSS that seven tonnes of boro paddy (hybrid) seeds were distributed among 4,500 farmers in 11 unions of the upazila, 3.5 tonnes of high yielding (ufshi) boro paddy seeds were distributed among 700 farmers, seven tonnes of DAP fertilizer and seven tonnes of MOP fertilizer have been distributed free of cost.
Manoharganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Acting) Nazia Hossain, District Council Member and Upazila Awami League President Master Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury, Women Vice-Chairman Afroza Kusum, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Zamanul Islam, among others, were present on the occasion.
