TANGAIL, July 21, 2025 (BSS) -A seven-day tree plantation campaign and tree fair began in the district today with the slogan "Let's do planned afforestation, build a green Bangladesh."

Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque inaugurated the programme, jointly organized by the district administration and the Forest Department, at Shaheed Smriti Municipal Park this morning.

A total of 47 stalls have been set up in the fair showcasing various saplings and tree-related materials.

Earlier, a colourful procession was brought out from the Deputy Commissioner's office.

Divisional Forest Officer Dr Abu Naser Mohsin Hossain presided over the inaugural ceremony.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Abdullah Al Mamun, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nahida Akhter, President of Tangail Journalists' Union Shamsadul Akhter Shamim, Chairman of the Department of Environmental Science and Resource Management at Maulana Bhashani University of Science and Technology Professor Dr A.S.S. Saifullah, and Professor of the Department of Food Technology and Mutation Science Dr Lutfunnesa Bari, among others, spoke on the occasion.
